paint for cooker grills

A friend of mine asked me to weld a piece back onto the black metal grill thing that sits on a gas hob. He'd tried to straighten one of the bars so that saucepans didn't wobble. He pulled it clean off. I've welded it but he needs to put a bit of paint on the weld. The weld isn't directly in the gas flame but the things still get hot. What's the right paint or a good substitute?

Do a google search for local suppliers of VHT Paint.
It claims to be ok up to 500 degrees C or more depending on brand.

I use matt black exhaust paint on our wood burning stove and it stands up alright to the heat.
