Appparently they are not too good at swerving around mooses, or didn't used to be anyway.

I used to drive a Vaneo, which had some similarities. I didn't like the high floor. Didn't encounter any moose though.

My mate had one he bought for £7k, spent £1800 repairing it in an 18 month period, after which the ecu failed costing £800 so he chopped it in for an e class and took a £3.2k loss on it. Not good!

I ran one for 60,000 miles from late 2000 to 2003. It was a brand new leased car.

Mine needed new trailing arm bushes.
Apart from servicing and tyres, that was pretty much it.

I would have another one again any time.

for a merc its a pile of junk, worked on a few, hideous thing to drive especially the manuals with no clutch pedal!!! also ecu failures are common.
stay clear!

I used to be a tech for merc. believe me when I say it shouldn't have a merc badge.

the new one's aren't as bad but I'd never own a 168.

Dad had one it had loads of issues. Auto gearbox was dreadful and Dad took it back to MB each week with different problems. MB had to re-write to software for the box in the end and it still wasn't right....

friend had a clutchless one that had issues. Another friend (they where best mates) had an auto that eventually decided it didn't want to upshift. Cost a fortune to fix so they traded it in.

Shame as when it worked it was a great little big car.

A car dealer friend gave me some very good advice whan I was considering getting one for the wife....

Buy a Honda Jazz. Does the same job, costs less, is a better car.

We got one and are very happy with it

Cheers

that is a great idea! One of my friends has one of those and she loves it.

She is also considering a yaris which might be a better size for her

Thanks for the advice everyone! Brilliant!
