fully restored 1967 Mk1 MG, car cost £15,800 to
restore in 2003-4 and has 90 pics of resto and all the bills, it now has a MGOC
value of £8000, also has a new 1950cc bigbore with a fast road cam and a stage
2 U/L head, drives and looks like new. rust free mk1's are now getting very
rare.

I've had a few BGT's... trust me - if you want to actually use the thing, then it won't last that way for long!
They need a lot of TLC to keep in A1 nick!
As for value - the MGOC is well known for having over-inflated opinions of what the cars are actually 'worth'... these prices are more to do
with agreed insurance value schemes.
It's a bit like a kit-car. You can throw thousands at your project, but you'll never see the money back on a sale - you still want to
protect your investment insurance-wise though.
Anyway - it hasn't been restored in keeping with it's period, so it automatically loses points there. £8k? No chance. A £4k sale would be
pushing the boundary of reality.

Mmmm, its not original, and uless the drivers door isn't shut properly it isn't fitted correctly, they are a swine to align, and if the
shell has been repaired around a badly fitted door it never will align.
Looks like it has the wrong seats in there too.
If it were a roadster I'd agree with about £4k, but a GT, not as desirable and I wouldn't part with any more than £2.5k for it.

Is it really rust free? I know that there is probably none that can be seen at the moment, but once that tin worm gets in there you really can't
eradicate it, you can only hold it at bay for a while. Kept in a warm dry garage,though, it should be OK for a few years.
If I really wanted it, and it really is as good as it looks in the pictures, then I would probably go to maybe £5K. I expect there are some MGB fans
who would go more than that, though

Has the vendor suggested a starting PURCHASE price with you?
I agree with Nick, about a quarter of the resto cost.
Quentin Wilson in his column in a classis mag this month has a mate who'd just bought a restored Jag for £16k, that he reckoned would have had
well over £60k spent on it.
Grab a bargain, but only if it's top notch.
Insurance valuation all very well making a claim, but not when cash is changing hands privately!

Bloody expensive for a donor and I'm sure an old sierra would be easier to use. As said lot of owners tend to over value mgs.
