4AGE Mounts
albertz - 11/2/04 at 08:59 PM

Can anyone give me some help with the Toyota 4AGE mounts? Are special mounts required or can the originals do?

also, can anyone advise on tunnel dimensions (to a book chassis) to fit a T9 bellhousing and box?

Once again, all comments appreciated.
Albertz.

Regarding the engine mounts, for all te hassle of sourcing the materials, measuring up, cutting, welding, finding the right rubbers you may as well send off to RAW for a set at around £40. Unless you hae all the material laying around already.

Cheers Findlay, i was already thinking about doing that, you have just convinced me. I am off to phone them right now.....

Some times it easier to just bite the bullet and buy something. You have to put a price on your own time!!

Thats what i thought i was prepared to source the parts, cut them up and then get a mate to weld them up but theres no point when the RAW items cost 40 and they are tried and tested. Ill be ordering mine in march along with the exhaust system they sell, i just think it looks damn sexy..

btw, what are you planning to do for an intake? are you keeping the original efi and changing the plenum or going to carbs? ITBs? im just asking because im wondering what to do myself......

I am thinking about cutting the plenum inlets and fabricating a 3" tube or box section to accept the various bits and pieces and getting a mate to tig weld it for me.

I think it is probably an easier option than converting to carbs etc. It should make the engine loom just a simple connect up jobbie.................in theory anyway!

I ordered the mounts yesterday £47 + delivery. Not too bad i suppose.

Do you have any idea of the electronics that can be stripped off the engine. I have heard people talking about it, but i am worried about disconnecting something incase it has a knock on effect. Probably just get the thing running as standard and take one bit off at a time and see what happens.

Cheers
