type 9 gear lever

hi i know that you can buy a quaife shift that gives a shorter throw for the type 9 but is there a 'tight' way of some how making the standard lever any more precise? cheers ben

I did one myself - there is a website detailing how to do it somewhere. If someone doesnt beat me to it i'll have a look for it now. I chopped the rubber damper out and shortened the gearstick considerably while i was at it

Rest the plate on the vice jaws, with the selector fork between the jaws.

Whack the end of the gear stick with a big hammer and it will move through the ball. Knock it through 8mm, and use some drilled out M8 nuts as spacers when you bolt it to the gearbox
