Which donor cars should i be able to find 1600 X Flow engines in and what ages? What sort of money should i be parting with?

You will find these engines in cortina mk 2 and early mk3,escort mk1,2 capri mk1 and some early transits, some people think they are worth loads,so find someone with a rusty wreck and kick tyres to wear them down.

Come over here and prove it to us,see ya at donny,im the one with the tea cup welded to my hand!

ChrisW - 1/8/02 at 06:10 PM

I've got a valencia (that's the FWD X-flow) in the garage which I was going to use (until Conrod talked me out of it). It's certainly shorter than a "real" x-flow and the clutch won't fit the spline on the mk2 Escort 'box I had to use.

Happy to offer the bell housings up to see if it all lines up if it would help?

Cheers, Chris.

johnston - 1/8/02 at 08:35 PM

well its either go to donni or buy the steel for the chassis mmmmmmmm which u reckon

theconrodkid - 1/8/02 at 08:44 PM

How much is the steel gona cost you?some of the guys here get it cheap for some reason?
check it out ,may be worth getting steel of one of the boys here and picking it up at donny and you can buy me brecky!result.

johnston - 1/8/02 at 09:16 PM

Just to complete my post incase anyone is interested, yes, it looks like it'd fit. (that's the Valencia x-flow to Escort mk2 box). Clutch issue is still there though but should just be a case of changing the middle plate.

Chris

i was told once that the face on the crank where the fly wheel bolts to is shorter moving the flw wheel and clutch away from the release fork there fore no clutch
