Do you recognise this water bottle!
David Jenkins - 15/2/04 at 03:30 PM

A few months ago I was in my local scrapyard, looking for a coolant overflow bottle (non-pressurised type).

Luckily I found one that was ideal - but, like a muppet, I forgot to note down the make of car it came from (Doh!). On close inspection, the cap looks like it may crack in the not-too-distant future due old age, so it would be really useful to know what to ask for if I need a replacement.

Here's some piccies...

Anyone recognise this item? All I know for certain is that the donor was japanese, and may have been a Nissan - there's a logo on the bottle that I think I recognise!

Ta,

David

I know that! The words "Made in Japan" on the side are a giveaway...
I have that radiator cap - I just need something to collect the surplus and keep it until the engine cools...

cheers,

David

So...........what are you going to do David with the water when it's cooled?

those types of bottle have a tube going to the bottom that acts as a syphon - as the engine cools a vacuum is created that sucks the water back in the rad.

mk1 MR2 one looks v similar to that, try any smallish 80ish toyota

David Jenkins - 16/2/04 at 09:07 PM

Well, nearly anyway!

I couldn't work out what the little logo was on the side of the bottle, until I twigged it from another thread... it's from a Daihatsu.

Anyone know what their small (Escort-sized) 4-door saloons were called? Probably around 10 years ago, I reckon.

Cheers to all,

David

Daihatswho?

The Applause was almost exactly like an Escort. Is the only car they made larger than a matchbox I think (no offense)

Cheers

Phew - I thought that Steve's post was a Prelude to a load of car name jokes.
I would have had to take out a Civic action against him...

It wouldn't have come to this if you all had a bit more Charisma!

stephen_gusterson - 18/2/04 at 11:34 PM

this thread has lost its Focus - Could someone please Escort David out of here - that would be Supra. Unless David wants to come to some Accord to prevent us dumping him in the Marina.
