So who's used a Capri 4sp g/box?

It looks much like the Sierra Type9, except for the gear-change mounting.
The Sierra version has a 3-bolt fixing, holding down the lever assy. On the Capri box, the lever is retained by a screwed hemi-cup.
So, no-where to fix the baseplate for the remote change.
Has anyone else managed a solution, which uses the method of extending the selector shaft?

I did, extended the shaft by welding on a section on splined steering column shaft. Used a steering UJ and another section of Steering shaft and joined it to a mk3 escort gear stick assy. The UJ allow sliding fore and aft adj and the splines are fine enough to allow fine 'twist' adj
Works OK but -

Had to limit side to side movement to the max req'd to select reverse and 3/4th gears (without the limits is possible to select all sorts of neutals that Mr Ford never intended) and it has a natural bias to 1st/2nd and it would be better if it biased 3rd/4th

If I was doing it again I would extend the shaft and use the UJ but then use a stick mounted thru a rose joint and link them with a simple fork joint.

If your gearbox is a Type E (which they used to fit to Crapis) then my solution would suit you just nicely, 'cos the Type 9 is just a Type E with an extension gear tacked on the back.

Just take off the gear lever, knock out the back plate and the selector shaft should be right in front of you. Follow my other instructions and you're home and dry...
...OK, there are afew more steps (like machining a few bits on a lathe) but it isn't rocket science.

Thanks again. Seen your website & the g/change extension. Think mine is Type C box (as in Haynes manual), so something similar to the Westfield extension would seem to be suitable.
