Bellhousing for Toyota 3S-GTE Engine
Guinness - 10/9/09 at 07:05 AM

Is the 3S-GTE engine the same basic block as a 4a-ge? i.e. will the Raw bellhousing bolt up between it and a type 9?

Or are there any other Toyota gearboxes that bolt up to it?

I think the W55 gearbox has been successfully used to convert the 4AGE and the 3SGE to RWD. I'm not sure about the 3SGTE though, I imagine it would have the same bolt pattern as the 3SGE.

The 3SGTE and 4AGE are not the same block - infact the '3S' and '4A' denote the block version.

There is a JDM Lexus IS200 which uses a version of the 3S engine, so if you can source a gearbox from one of those it should bolt up.

It is different from the 4age, but the same as the standard 3sge, can get custom bellhousing to a t50 gearbox, but more common is a w55, w57 or w58 gearboxes with the right bellhousing will bolt straight up. And will handle the power of a 3sgte (t50 won't last long with a turbo 2L)

check out the following to find out about which bellhousings work

Thanks

Should really have thought about searching first, but I'm sleep deprived this morning!

Cool. How much would you pay me to clear some space in your garage then?
