Hi gavin, I haven't fitted mine yet, but asked this question the other day (for zx9rs).
you have to leave these open to the air, although should fit a filter on the end to stop crud getting sucked in. If you don't the fueling goes at
the window.
I believe its the air bleed jets you need to block, but I haven't a clue where these are - a google reveals nothing for zx9r carbs
Leave the pipe open - it doesn't affect the mixture on ZX6 Carbs.
What have you drilled the mains to, and what notch are the needles on?
On my 2.0 Zetec I have 1.6mm mains with the needle on the lowest [i.e the richest setting] notch. If anything that's a little bit on the rich
side.
I haven't made any other changes to my carbs - mine are re-spaced so don't even have the pipe.
What air filter do you have?

the carbs are as "standard" supplied by GBS...
ready jetted for a pinto on there manifold with pipercross sausage filter.
Best to either ask them what the jet sizes are or take one out and measure it - some small drill bits are an easy way of doing this and are cheap
enough to buy.
The jets are easy to remove.

unfortunatly i dont think gbs have managed to ever supply a set of carbs for a pinto that are correctly setup. mainly because its almost impossible
to do.
under ther big air inlet holes on each carb there is a little hole. you either need to block them off or restrict them down to a smaller size.
Hi Gavin, ive got zr6 carbs, have you fitted anything to the pipe outlet at bottom of carbs in the middle?
My carbs arent fitted to anything yet but will be going on a zetec 1.8
regards col.
The picture is of Jacko's carbs. send him a u2u and I am sure he will help.
As I said in my previous post, all you need to do to ZX6R carbs is bigger jets and fiddle with needle position to get midrange mixture right.
Nothing needs blocking up - I think this just applies to ZX9 carbs.
I've fitted a couple of sets on 1.8 and 2.0 Zetecs.
