Thread size for flange nut on Sierra Diff ?
Tris - 1/1/10 at 08:49 PM

Hi all,

Quick question - does anyone know the thread size for the Drive flange nylock nut (ie the "prop shaft plate retaining nut" ) on a sierra rear diff ?

I have just finished refurbishing mine and noticed the usual statement in the haynes manual saying not to reuse it more than 4 or so times. Turned to look at mine only to find that it wasn't a nylock at all ! (someone has obviously swapped it at some point in time).

Anyway as its out and not a major deal i thought i would get a new nylock but i am unsure on the thread size (is it M15?). Can anyone help ?

Cheers
Tris

Is that not the nut that adjusts the pinion via the crush tube?

Care when refitting to ensure that you do not crush the 'crush tube' any more or there may be tears.
