Fuel Pump Advice
Bass1st - 10/8/10 at 07:47 PM

Hi.. I am going to replace my plastic fuel tank with a alloy version (baffled and swirl pot integrated) but not sure what to do about the fuel pump. Currently I have a facet pump bolted in the rear of the car by the tank that sucks the fuel from the top of the tank (assume the pipe goes to the bottom of the tank!). For the replacement I will take the fuel from the bottom of the tank. Is a facet pump the best way to go or would you suggest an alternative? I am using twin DHLA carbs fed via a fuel filter and pro-fuel regulator. Thanks.

The original tank must of had a pipe that went to the bottom so the new pipe that takes fuel from the bottom will require the same pull from the pump as the original tank did, so no problem.
You could mount the pump lower and nearer to the outlet or instal a non return valve near the pump inlet

New alloy tank went in today (help by Karlak) along with a new pump. It was a Bl**dy fiddly job but got there in the end! I got the tank from Paul Talbot and it was a bargain. Will give the car a good shakedown run tomorrow, assuming it is not raining!
