I'm considering going down the BEC route but was put off due to it costing more.
However seeing a few good value engine packages for sale on here I wondered if it can be done on a budget.
What are the lower cost option to get about 130-140 bhp, I assume this would still be pretty quick!
The ZX10 pack that sold for £275 looked good value, if nto a little difficult to get spares for. What are the other good value options and where to
buy.
Just waying up my options for now.
Mike
I will have 2 x rrx blades (1998 fireblade - last of the carbs), including all looms, manifold, airbox, carbs etc for sale in the next month or so.
130BHP BECS are still bloody quick!!!!
The one engine with looms, ecu, carbs, standard airbox will be up for sale at about £500
The other including Andy bates airbox, tuned mild steel manifold, ecu, loom etc i want about £800 for.

What is the spec of the RRX engine, it means nothing to me not being a biker, google is failing me.
Is that the 900cc engine? power and torque, is it a common kit car fit?
It was a joke regarding the ZX10 engine, I missed the bargain, I 'm sure it wont!

Is there a common locost solution for the need for reverse on IVA?
Thanks for the info on the blade engine, I thought it was a common fit but wasn't sure what the RRX meant.

zx10r seems like good value for money on e-bay at the moment, and these are so light you could probably get them posted as a large letter.
i paid 700 for my blade package complete with 4 branch manifold....really easy to fit in and a MASSIVE weight saving over any car engine......
reverse is either a pupose built box or a starter motor
The ZX10 engine comes from a basic architecture which predates it and continues to be produced to this day in modified form.
I'm not worried about obsolescence myself.
The old ZX10 has got to be best bang for buck, I've never understood why people pay significantly more for the ZX9 which has less power & less torque.
and I did try to sell my ZX10 6 months ago and didn't have a single enquiry or u2u ............. could have sold it 3 times over this time - go
figure......
TBH from personal experience if bike engines go pop then it's cheaper to just buy another working one than try to fix them, ZX10's
aren't that uncommon and actualy parts aren't any more expensive or harder to get than more modern bike engines but 135ish bhp for £275 plus
a sequential gearbox can't be a bad deal.....
What's weith a CBR 1000F? 135+bhp depends on year, buy a full bike for around £400 and sell the bits you don't want/need to get some money back.
