NEWBIE question..How do i get the engine off the gearbox???

Having recently Caused some damage to my new LOCOST racer i have striped the engineof its ancillaries etc ready to lift out and take to the professionals .....
I have it all ready to lift out with slings around the lot but i carnt get it to budge more than approx 3/4 of an inch from the gear box.
I am obviously doing something wrong and fear causing damage if i try to prize it off.

Being new to this kind of thing, Any tips would be greatly appreciated..

What kind of engine is it?

Have you removed the starter?

As well as the starter, have you removed the plate from the bottom of the bellhousing?

Hi...

Can you put your rough location in your profile, as it helps a lot. Someone close by, may even offer to pop over and take a look.

Are you pulling straight in line with the gearbox?

Was the clutch working OK when you last drove it. (I had a release bearing melt into the cover spring fingers, and that was a sod to extract!)

Have you tried turning the engine over (by hand - with the plugs out) when you get to the sticky bit to see if there are any clues from the noises etc.

Cant think of much else.. its sat morning and me head hurts

1300 cross flow and box as 750mc championship.

starter still attached to box

Take starter off, the flywheel will be hitting it and the box will never come off then!

Guessing as it's a locost racer that the engine is a 1300 xflow? in which case IF everything has been removed it may be a build up of rust on the gearbox shaft causing it to stick or the gearbox isn't supported as is tipping causing the shaft to jam in the clutch? Have you got a bigger gap at the bottom of the bell housing than the top? If so jack or support the bell housing so that the gap is even all round . As said put your location in your profile . HTH

refering to above by rusty nuts i have had that problem i sorted it by removing all bolts starter n then lift the engines with a hoist just enough to take the strain and press the clutch while some ones holding the engine it released slowly as said main shaft stuck in plate or dowels witch ever it eased it off

TODAY I HAVE LEARNT THAT REMOVING THE STARTER MOTOR SAVES A LOT OF TIME HUFFING AND CHUFFING (AND CUSSING)...................
