I have a 1600 CVH destined for the Locost which came equipped with a Weber TLDM 28/32 carb, the same as those strapped to post ’86 XR2’s. I also have a Pierburg (I think) that came from my donor, an 1800 CVH. I’d like to upgrade the carb to improve performance and would like to know if the Pierburg can be re-jetted to suit the 1600 and if so, would it provide any power increase? Also, aside from the pre ’86 XR2’s Weber 32/34, are there any other carbs (readily available from the local scrapper) that’ll suit the 1600 CVH and provide enhanced performance?
No the Peirburg wil not give any improvement, it has quite small chokes ,and the second venturi opens slowly by vacuum.
On my 1800CVH I fitted a weber34/36DGV , which opens the second choke when you open the throttle past about 3/4.
It is a lot freeer revving and responsive .

I once ran a 1400cc cvh on a bank of bike carbs?
How was and what did you control it with?
I was thinking bike throttle bodies for mine , Ive already got amost of the sensors on there...........
Surrey Dave,
What ignition system are you using with your 32/36 DGV?
Nick
I have the standard Ford 1800CVH ignition , which has sensors for , water temp, air temp, TDC, + I have lambda sensor fitted in my manifold, thats most of the sensors need for an ECU isn't it?
