Is it OK to reuse the rear hub nuts on the Sierra drive shafts?
No, I believe one use only.
Ford would probably say no. I'd say yes.
Phil
Nyloc only to be used once.
i reused mine
Ford recommend changing every time. However, like all nuts they're held by the friction between the nut and what it's tightened against (in this case the hub flange face) and not the nylock. Thats only influence is to stop the nut coming off SHOULD it become loose for some reason. Given the torque to which these are done up, you'd have to have either ballsed up big time doing them up or a bearing failure go un-noticed for quite a while for that to happen. Mine have been on/off several times and the nylock is still tight on the thread.
ive used loctite and re used for the last 20 years with no issues
If they are staked nuts provided they are not too chewed up to securely punch down no problem.
A tiny dab of Loctite will give a bit extra security
I always use the rounded surface of a 13mm dia round bar to stake nuts down as going it this way dosen't tear the nut.
