Custom exhaust makers in north west?
daniel mason - 11/11/11 at 06:54 PM

Any custom exhaust makers In north west. It needs to be 2 1/2" minimum also so fuel exhausts in Kendal cand do it as they are bike specialists and only go up to 2 1/8".
I nave a spoon n1 system with a centre box ( which will be along the side of the car) and a small tail pipe which I want to run under the rear drive shafts and mounted at the rear like indybird did with his mnr)
I spoke to ass In Newcastle after various recommendations and they just refused point blank to use my spoon silencers and modify the pipework

Daniel, I am sure I heard of somewhere in Morecambe. Let me check with my mate and will let you know.

Gates Tyres at Carlisle do custom exhausts, not heard a lot good or bad about them though really.

I know you said the North West, but just at the end of the A66 in Darlington is Steve, his number is 01325-362271 they tell me he is the "Go to Man" if you need an exhaust built.

Cheers.

I've used west gate tyres on my subarus and for standard stuff they are ok. But I took a flange and reducer for them to weld for my kit cat and they made a poor job. Weld everyehre, so not so good if it's on show

To be honest I didn't even know Gates did custom stuff at the place out west! The lads I do know who've had stuff done at Carlisle have either been fairly standardish stuff on hot hatches etc or in one case they got tubes bent to their spec & did all the rest themselves.

When once digging around for exhaust places I found these two places
www.pipewerx.com

and

http://www.clitheroeexhaustcentre.co.u

I guess both are still a trek for yourself.

I ended up with an SVC 5inch exhaust and some tube from Pipe werx and did my own, very simple system.

+1 on westgate tyres

They are just off the second roundabout going into Morecambe from Lancaster (first roundabout takes you down White Lund Ind Est !!)

Take first exit of said roundabout and then they are first or second on the left, they have been there donkeys, they did a full stainless system on my BMW535 and it was a really good fit, bender on site and the guy fitting/making the system actually knew what he was talking about, and they used the correct type of wire in their MIG too......

Had my tin top custom system (fully custom, not off the shelf) made by Blue Flame Performance, took about 2 hours and cost me £300 for a downpipe-back 2.75" stainless system with 2 boxes.

https://www.blueflameperformance.com/main_english/

IIRC they used to be the guys who made systems for TVR.

Only complaint I'd have is they used mild steel flanges. While they haven't failed in the time since 2004 I would have preferred stainless flanges.

Again not exactly North West, but North West Wales. This guy http://www.hibexhausts.co.uk/ has a good reputation around here. He made a one off for a mate's hovercraft. It's a good job but took ages to get it done

JP Exhausts, Macclesfield.

Did a really nice job manoeuvring the headers around my steering column.
