Anyone done it ? Any problems I should expect if I go this route for my kir
I know someone who is thinking about doing this in an actual volvo - I'd be interested to hear how your build goes.
The easiest way to go rear wheel drive is to get hold of an M90 Volvo gearbox, this was fitted in the 960, (may have been in others), as this is a straight bolt on jobby. There was one being advertised on ebay, guy wanted , I think, £80 for it. HTH Ray
I've done it (the hard way, with a bmw 'box, adapter plate, and lots of custom bits). The M90 is the easy way but it's a very short/fat
gearbox (it is actually a FWD design, adapted for RWD) so tunnel space is a problem in a Seven.
Best place for info is the TurboBricks forum. Lots of people there who've done it in old Volvos. Most useful thing to know is that the family of
engines the T5 is from are known as 'Whiteblock' engines, so you'll find threads like 'Whiteblock in a 240':
http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=163457 which will have lots of the info you need.
Was it worth it?
There are much easier ways to get the same power, but the noise is unique and it always attracts attention in paddocks and car parks! If you like to be a bit different then it's worth it. If you just want 230-300 bhp the easiest way possible then there are easier routes.
As Above....
the best volvo engine is a redblock.....
