im doing a locost with a redtop aswell and need to find out which is the best RWD gearbox ? and and of course fits ? and for sale that you know of ?

i heard charlton or a getrag manta box ?

Type 9 from a 2.8 capri or similar might be a good choice as you'll get a slightly longer 1st
advantage of the type 9 is you can always buy a better gear set for it when funds allow
The manta box will also do it but i think their getting a bit rarer now ?

Omega box can be used also but think they are quiet big.

Type nine with an adapter bellhousing. or Manta box. Omega box is big and wide.

Simplest is the manta getrag box but also the weakest.

Best option is the type 9 with alloy conversion belhousing. This option also allows you to have hydraulic clutch easily. You use the xe clutch pressure plate with ford friction disc and ford bearing I believe.

Think the vauxhall carlton also had the 5sp getrag gearbox fitted.
