Rad fan switch for starlet? radiator
kp - 4/4/12 at 05:02 PM

I put in a startlet rad & fan into my pinto powered locost. How should I go about adding a fan switch? There is no hole or threads on the rad for for a fan switch. What do I need to do/get.

Don't aks what year the starlet fan is (I'm not even 100% sure that it is from a starlet), I just picked it up from a pile of rads in a junkyard and it looked like it would fit.

Hi, just seen your question and thought of these modules.

They go in the radiator hose and give a location for a stat switch.

Hope they help - and that the link works.

You would need a hose adaptor tapped for an M14 fan switch , you will find loads on ebay complete with switch or as bare adaptors that need re-tapped to M14. M14 is the switch size used no older Volvos, Reanults and BMW and are cheap on eBay.

It might actually be cheaper to switch to a Polo rad which has a M22 hole ready made.

eBay is a much cheaper place to buy this type of stuff very close to half the price of Merlin Motorsport with free P&P

You could get one made up for £10

or drill hole in the side bit of rad and weld a nut in to take sender unit.
