Solidly mounted engine

Any problem in mounting a engine solidly? This is for a pure race car!
Set up is a rear engin / gearbox transversely mounted.

My bike engine is mounted solidly with no problems, not sure what a car engine would be like though.

I reckon you will shake ya fillings loose can you not fit uprated engine rubbers ? all the vibrations will travel through the chasis> I would imagine this would also be felt through the sterring wheel

My Locost was solid mounted - 1300 Crossflow then 2 litre Zetec - no problems.

It'll certainly cause long term issues with those components which are lightly secured such as bodywork.
It'll fizz and vibrate much more. and might need a bit more checking.

Personally, I actually like that.
Spaceframes racing cars with fizzing bodywork caused by solidly mounted engines is one of those odd things that I find really quite endearing.

If you've ever stood next to a silent hillclimb single seater when the DFV solidly mounted in the back is fired up, you'll know what I means.

It's very very business like.

Thanks, So far it sounds like a GO for a silidly mounted engine. I have seen our Polo Cup car's engines are solidly mounted but would like to hear from other people

I've used polybushes to mount my engine so its not technically, solidly mounted but the chassis will flex before the engine moves but it takes away a some of the vibrations.

We run the bike engines solid in a rear Engined car, only thing have to be sure that the chassis is stiff enough, if it twists etc...More chance of blowing one up. Not sure how important this is in a car engined car but probably less important

Only going to rev to 7500 not to 14K so should vibrate less??

Although car engines not usually balanced as well as a bike engine.
