Fuel Pump Age and Silicon Fuel Hose?
BigDawgV8 - 21/9/12 at 06:54 PM

Hi All,

I've stripped the fuel tank and fuel pump out of the Minor to paint the aluminium panels in the boot.

While I was there I noticed that the Facet pump is 16 years old. I forgot I had had it that long! It still works fine but is there an 'age limit' for these pumps, after which they will start to become unreliable?

I am also planning to change all the rubber hoses at the same time.
Is there such a thing as silicon fuel hose or should I just get some top quality Gates stuff?

Thanks for looking!

i think the fuel resistant silicone hose is not suitable as a fuel line from when i looked into it.

Fuel pumps work until they don't
No real way of telling, 16 years is a good time but I suspect not many hours
I only use BS rated fuel hose don't bother with silicone as its not fuel resistant unless fluro lined so why bother when standard stuff is proven long term

get R9 rated fuel hose, should be future proof for a few years....
