Differences between p100/transit engine and normal pinto
pmc_3 - 23/9/12 at 07:25 PM

A friend bought a spare pinto to rebuild and he tells me it turns out its a p100 engine. What are the differences between these and the regular pinto? I presume pistons are different for the lower compressions but are the crank and head different? Cheers

The known difference is low compression pistons, shown in the Haynes manual.
The piston top is lower down the bore.
May have a thicker flywheel.
P100 Type 9 is also different with much lower 1st gear

Commecial Pinto Vs Pass. car Pinto. Depending on engine age and size, differences range from camshaft, valves, compression ratio, pistons, sump, flywheel, carb and manifold, exhaust manifold. In fact quite a lot.
What engine size is it?
