Im thinking of giving the roadster a new heart and am planning to swap my pinto for a st170 engine,
im trying to complie a shopping list of what i would need,
can i get a bellhousing to suit the st engine ie is it the same bolt pattern as the duratec?
what other goodies will i need to make it all work as it would in the donor car,
what engine management would you guys reccomend i know the omex kit cant work the vvt and id like it working
any help would be great

ST170 is a Zetec engine, not a Duratec, so will bolt up to a MT75 or Type 9 box!
Its a "posh" zetec mate so it will bolt straight on to your T9. And what better ecu than the one that was atached to it in the donor
You could delete the vvt and run omex, dta, Ms or anything you like but where is the fun in that.
Am I correct in recalling theres alot of difference between it and the standard zetec, piston jets etc
What clutch/flywheels etc etc
Block is the same, it has better rods and higher comp pistons. The standard head will breath better than most "ported" black tops. It does
have a dual mass flywheel but that will swap over along with the sump ect.
If your going to delete the vvt and go aftermarket then you are getting a higher comp better breathing engine for much less than upping the comp and
porting on a black top.
I think keeping the vvt and irmc with the ford ecu will make a great budget option. I paid sub £30 for my ecu, I sell edis4's for more than
that.
I havnt finished it yet, But with decat and cai I expect to make the 170bhp. £600 of ecu, same again in mapping and a set of throttle bodies should
see you with 200bhp. Acouple of grand for 30bhp in a road car
didnt coozer have one for sale a couple of weeks back
Yep and a good price to but its almost another country away
Yup trying to work out transport
