CVH vs 4age
Findlay234 - 24/9/02 at 07:29 PM

right, ok ive got a sierra at the moment and its got a 1.8 cvh with the type 9 box.

the thing is the engine i really want is the toyota 4age 1.6 16v. i can get a bellhousing to fit the engine to the type 9 or i can just get a t50 box, the type that comes with the 4age rwd.

i dont know, any ideas anyone?????? stick with the 1.8 or go bellhousing or go t50.????

u can get bellhousin to fit the toyota seen a few mk2s runnin them

T50 seems to be the normal way.

The aussies on the TOL sister group use that combo a lot.

Lots of hp for not a lot of cc.

im also lookin at the k series just now aswell theres 216 gti in the local scrappies

what dus everyone reckon to the k series it looks like a good engine

Findlay234 - 25/9/02 at 07:43 AM

well is it good. i guess if its good enough for the lotus elise and the MGF then its good enough for most things, and theres a lot of tuning goodies available.

redeye - 25/9/02 at 07:58 AM

its good enough for the mr2 aswell which is a good sports car

im going to look at 216 gti today for its k series engine

anyone know what boxes will fit?

i did read somewhere that the t9 fits it

rallyslag - 25/9/02 at 03:04 PM

the 1.8 CVH is a bit of a slug anyway

don't bother trying to fit a type 9 to the 4age it's a waste of time T50 is the way we do it here....also if u want a stronger gearbox try the Supra gearbox...this is VERY tuff gearbox indeed.

redeye - 29/9/02 at 01:25 PM

why wots the problem?

what if u were to get a bellhousing from raw?

whats the best car to get the t50 off?

Findlay234 - 29/9/02 at 07:35 PM

yes i can get bellhousing from raw or fensport.£££££££££.

and yes i can just use the t50, (its from the corolla gt by the way) but the thing is ive got a type 9 in the sierra already so it would be a shame to waste it and not use it.

well if i was to get a t50, is anyone interested in buying a type 9 box?

Your 216 GTi will have a Honda engine in it not a K Series (the one that runs in the wrong direction). The 1600 K Series was only introduced in 96 in the Mark 2 type Rover 216/416

If i were you, id look at it a different way.

Use your type 9 box. You would then have the great experience of having to get a flywheel and starter motor that mesh, and either buy or make your own bellhousing. Then there is getting a clutch cobbled up to fit. You will have a lot of variables to deal with.

However, this way, and a lot of hassle, uses your type 9 box.

OR you look around for a T50, and bolt it right up.

hmmm

not sure which one id go for

maybe it would be a good idea emailing the guy from the www.robs7.com site cos hes already doen it and a good job too

see what route he took

Findlay234 - 30/9/02 at 07:25 PM

i think rob's used a t50 box so it doesnt help. i might just end up buyin a t50 but id rather not.

so is there anyone interested in buying a t9.
