whats it worth? honestly now guys!

I have had for quite some time now a brand new American Zetec known as an VCT. This has the vvt on the exhaust cam only to help with emissions. I was planning on using the block, crank, con rods and bare head to slowly build up a monster NA zetec. Its not going to happen now as my money is required elsewhere!
I've done extensive research into this engine and had a good friend who works at Ford as a Turbo design engineer do some digging around and have found just a few but crucial differences between the EU version and the yank counterpart,
The pistons on the US version have a larger thickness crown increasing weight.
The Con rods are sintered forged vs the EU standard cast models.
The block is identical to a blacktop, standard bore and with the split 2 piece ally/pressed steel sump.
The crank is also identical between the EU and US.
The head has no cams but the rest is complete and bar 1 thread that will need a steel bung where the former solaniod sat its identical to a EU version.

The water pump housing is broken at the outlet ( my bad !) but everything else is new, Its been oiled and turned occasionally and also had a yearly ACF-50 treatment.

I under stood the st170 was an svt with the better pistons and rods.

I've never seen a new one come up for sale.

Are they sintered, or are they forged? Hopefully the latter.

Fantastic price for a new bottom end. You would do better splitting it down.

Any pictures ? why oh why do all the toys that come up happen to be 100 miles or more away.

Pictures this afternoon, the rods are sintered forged,
Process Definition
Custom blended metal powders are fed into a die, compacted into the preform shape (different from the final part shape), ejected from the dieand then sintered (solid state diffused) at a temperature below themelting point of the base metal in a controlled atmosphere furnace. Theheated preform is withdrawn from the furnace, coated with a highmtemperature lubricant and transferredmto a forging press. The hot preform is then close die forged (hot worked) to cause plastic flow, thus reshaping and
identifying the preform. The compaction step requires the preform to be removable from the die in the vertical direction with no cross movements of the tool members. The sintering step creates metallurgical bonds between the powder particles imparting mechanical strength to the preform. The forging step reshapes the preform to its final configuration and reduces the porosity to nearly zero.

forgot to add reply for big-wasa, its not an st170 engine. Its a US Zetec called a VCT , these were used in their focus alternative called a zx2.

I gathered that with the vvt being on the exhaust and not the inlet like the st170.

But still very fare money for a semi forged bottom end.

that's why part of me is saying nooo dont sell it :-)

Whats it worth?

If it makes you feel good, probably best to initially put it up on Ebay, either starting at £10,000 or with a starting 'price' of £0.99 and a £9,999.00 reserve.

Make sure that the description portrays the engines 'awsum spek'.

Complain later that there are 'no serious buyers' out there, only 'timewasters'.

Alternatively, if someone on here wants to take the engine on, you'll have probably heard from them by now, or are likely too. I love this site, it's full of like-minded people that know what they want.
What it's worth won't be a figure you (or anyone) have in mind, it'll be what the interested party is prepared to pay. A voyage of discovery with sharp dose of reality.
