Age of a Pinto
pstirz - 31/7/13 at 05:41 PM

I am trying to get proof of the age and exact capacity of my 2.0 pinto for the IVA.

I have tried a letter to Ford Technical information centre, PO box 300, Walsall as recommended on the forum, but got a letter back saying the technical centre no longer exists at RAC ?

Does anyone know of another Ford information centre that can provide the information?

I believe pinto's was not made after the age of needing a cat in the exhaust so do you need proof of age @
i didn't for my SVA and the tester new this at Beverley

when i did my pinto there was a table in the burton catalog with all the two letter combinations and the years

the first first letter of the engine number will tell you the year of manufacture, the second letter tells you the month in which it was manufactured in that year.
Here you are: i just used the snipping tool in windows to take this from burtons e-catalog, Page 15, its the bottom left table

Thanks for that.

Mines a HK so Feb 1987.

I've got a Burtons catalogue somewhere.

I'll take he catalogue to the IVA as a reference.

I wouldn't advise doing this as the IVA tester at Bristol failed my friend's Stylus last month. He insisted on a letter from Ford, despite us explaining who Burton were and showing him their engine date guide. You may lucky though?...

Most other test centres accept Burton chart
