I am wanting to do an oil and filter change on my Stuart Taylor ZX9R but not sure what oil i should use :-/
I'm sure it has Putolene Super DX10 semi synthetic in atm but the oil i have to possibly put in is Silkolene Comp 4 Synthetic Ester, is this
better than using the DX10?
Would i have to buy some engine flush being as it's fully synthetic?
Any advice or info would be much appreciated
Daz.
Oh also does anyone know how much oil the ZX9R engine takes?
only use semi synthetic full synthetic will get your clutch slipping it should use about 3.8 liters at a guess

Strange thing is it's made for motorbike use? :-/
Now i'm confused lol
yes for bikes that have a dry clutch
I've been using Silkolene Comp4 for the last 5 years with with plenty of abuse and had no issues. I know of plenty of others using it as well.

I changed the oil today and put 4ltrs in and it's not even showing in the glass window, how strange :-/
It's Castrol Power 1 and it's red but it doesn't look like it's above the glass :-/
From a drained sump but keeping the same oil cooler so that isn't drained, I have very little left from 5l in my ZX9 turbo engine
I've ordered some more so i can top it up to the correct level
Dave how's the winter mods coming along?
Turbo manifold is pretty much done, talking to a couple of laser cutting places to get the flanges cut to add to the manifold. Got myself another set
of cylinder barrels and in communication with a racing shop in Bristol to bore them out for my forged pistons. Also managed to chop about 5" off
the length of my rear arms which does put the CV's at almost the binding point however it gets more weight on the rear tyres. Wired in a
microswitch to my gear lever and configured flatshift in megasquirt so I can now do full throttle clutchless upshifts and keep the turbo spooled.
I'll do a proper post in a few weeks when I have a good amount of things to show.
