I am putting a Ford Puma 1.7 Zetec SE engine in a Ford Anglia and bought a set of scales for my engine hoist. Here's the scores on the doors

Zetec SE 1.7 Puma Engine stripped of most ancilliaries + cast iron exhaust manifold (not down pipe) + aux belt idler and cast bracket + 1/2 full of
oil + flywheel (no clutch) = 88kg
As above + starter + alternator + motorcycle throttle bodies = 98kg
I have a type 9 and a bell housing/clutch fork is on order so will update when I have weighed these to give a total installed weight.
light enough to lift in and out i know that
IIRC the 1600 is the lightest 1600 car engine ever made

There are also some interesting stats re the various gearboxes - e.g. Ib5 is a similar size to the mtx75, but almost 20kg's lighter.

The westfield link is interesting - K Series comes out well.
Hoping to be under 150kg for the drive train wet - Engine (105kg), Clutch (2.5kg), Bell housing (5kg), Type 9 Gearbox (35kg) but will update when I
weight all of the bits.
Ford Anglia was 750kg when it came out of the factory so hopefully I will be under that by the time it is all finished (ally rad, no interior etc.) -

Are those engine weights dressed?
The rover 1.8 K series engine weighs about 75kg bare and 95kg dressed with both manifolds, flywheel, alternator, loom etc as fitted in the MGF/ Elise.
130kg inc pg1 gearbox.
If I recall when I was a member of the wscc..the comparison table was regarded as being pretty good...the guy who did it put a fair amount of work into getting it accurate.....I think the weights we're with some ancillaries, but like for like. A k may well be 75kgs totally naked, but in general he sigma is one of the lightest available.
I weighed my FRP complete with gearbox, all ancillaries ready to run, inlet but not exhaust manifold , mounting brackets but not insulators, including
oil at 140 kg on calibrated scales. My very well informed sources tell me that an iB5 weighs 37.7 kg including oil which makes the dressed engine as
defined above 102.3 kg. This seems consistent with the 98 kg for a lesser spec quoted above. For anyone interested my same source tells me an MTX 75
weighs 40 kg. If you do a very strict like for like comparison you might find a Rover K series is 1 kg lighter as a bare engine but this is probably
displacement dependant.
Forgot to add my gearbox had stubshafts in to stop the oil coming out so take off another 2 kg for those!
