Hi guys as stated im new here and am looking to install a zx10r engine into a fiat uno mk1 1985
so far i have got myself a mazda mx5 rear sub frame
im hopefully buying a zx10r engine very soon unless anyone has a powerful bike engine for sale here at a good price
my main question is do i need to install a secondry output shaft bearing from the engine to take the strain of carrying 750kg connected to the chassis
or will the zx10r engine casing take it? the builds that i have looked at on google havn't but i just cant imagine a bike engine casing taking

I've never heard of anybody using a secondary bearing and I've looked at loads of varying bec installs.
One thing I would say is that I wouldn't expect the performance to be great carrying around 750 kg. Is that the weight with the engine fitted ?
For a BEC to really move you really need to be around the 500 kg mark especially with a litre engine. Just my opinion though.
sorry the weight is originally 696 kg with original engine and all interior out the factory so by the end i might get 600kg?

Mate of mine had a Mk1 Fiesta with a zx9r in it. As much the same as a 7 install he went the rwd route. Just a few bracket and a basic cradle in the
engine bay, prop adapter running back to a Capri axle hung off some radius arms. Down side was loss of the fuel tank under the back seat, that went in
the boot in a mk2 escort all rally job. This left tons of room underneath for the radius arm suspension.
Only knacker in the whole job was he mounted the exhaust solid to the body... Boy what a racket! Fast as tho..

i have a mazda mx5 diff and half of the propshaft (CUT).
instead of using chain drive is there any solution out there that can connect to the output shaft from zx10r engine to the remaining half of prop
obviously welding something onto it?
i will be putting engine in middle of car wont the shaft wont need to be long

Your not really making it clear how your engine is mounted for people to answer.
its going to be mounted the same as any rwd car using a prop mate
Ab performance do prop adapters (front) and and any prop maker will be able to make a prop to suit! Dunning and Fairbank, Bailey Morris etc
perfect mate will I need some sort of carrier bearing keeping In mind want to keep the prop as short as possible like 20 mil or will it run fine without shaking loose and making a huge mess, like do the prop adapter fit really really really well? sorry for these questions but you guys know your stuff, also the diff unit is currently on rubber mounts should I make them solid so it don't jump around
Why did you go for the MX5 rear subframe? It's a fair hunk of metal that can be made up from RHS and be so much lighter. If you're going for the BEC option you'd do well to make it as light as possible.
mainly due to my skill level and lack of equipment, by going with that chunk of metal it will cut out the most diffecult part for me, this will be my first so im not too fussed about weight even though i know a big problem will be clutch slip and pulloff but if needs be i will ditch the heavy wishbones and make up my own lighter, but the actual subframe itself isnt too heavy its everything thats bolted to it also im hoping to make it removeable {bolt on}
this isnt my one, mine looks a bit rustyer but, look at the size of the arms they realy are heavy like you say, i will be building my own when i
become a bit more pro

The car may end up pretty heavy for a BEC! Have you thought about a different car engine instead? In my opinion you would want the car to be under 500kg with a bike engine to get the best out of it. Something approaching 750-800 kgs will not feel the same

make up a frame to carry the zx10r engine and the chain diff and mount to the original car engine mounts, so replicating the cars original
engine/gearbox setup but with a frame, hope this makes sense, then I can tack weld everything and take it to a proper welder
then whatever chain driven diff I get eg fiesta shafts, I can get a professional to cut and join shafts to the required length and weld to my shafts
and then I can keep the brakes and everything, I now have punto gt brakes and hubs and shafts so it will all be strong enough
I think a lot more planning is needed. Your best bet is front mount the motor, prop drive to the Mazda rear end!
