hi guys and gals,
ive got a zetec on the go which i'm going to be running on twin 40's, with a megajolt for sparks. fairly standard otherwise. anyone have a
clue as to what the power might be?
i need to get a box for it sooner or later so before i start hunting im after a bit of direction.
will keep one and all posted on megajolt development, hope to do some good things with it.
1.8 should give 150-155bhp, 2.0 160-165bhp.
You can use a Type 9 or MT75. Type 9 from earlier Sierra up to about 1989ish. Most go for a type 9 if you need to change ratios. I run a standard MT75
which goes just fine.
Cool...I'm going to be running an Emerald myself (albeit on DIY Bike throttle bodies)
Silver top or Black top? Most of the tuning goodies (Raceline et al) are originally designed for a silvertop. I have a blacktop.
Have got a std Type 9 and can confirm that it bolts straight up to the block - but not to the sump although that shouldn't be an issue.
Another useful titbit is get hold of the spacer plate from an 1800 Sierra - will directly replace the Zetec fwd one. Just need to make up a blanking
plate where the starter goes on the Zetec block
Don't forget to get a spigot bearing, and if you're running a 2.0 then you'll need to change the flywheel to either an expensive
bespoke one (e.g. Raceline), a std 1.8 zetec flywheel or a Dunnell lightened 1.8. flywheel Most places can also supply a clutch for a reasonable
price.
Oh..and make the sump shallower...most places charge a fortune for a modified sump. You can get a FF drysump, secondhand DS pump and oil tank for
about the same money if you're willing to hunt. I'm being a cheapskate and intending to make a shallow sump myself (similar to the one on
www.toyne.org)

cheers chaps,
this engine has a bit if a special history and hence is going into something out of the ordinary.
im running a1300 crossflow in my road/race locost, whilst getting this beast ready for the next project. its going to be mid engined, so am looking at
some of the renault/porsche/hewland cogboxes out there.
thanks for power figures, looks like itll be something to mess with!
