Does anyone know where it should be on a 2.0 black top engine?
The thermostat housing doesn't have any electrical connections or empty holes

Its normally on top of the thermo housing...
Got a pic of yours??
I'll go take a photo of mine....
Focus is in the head. Near / under cylinder 1 on the inlet side.
Here it is....
They moved it to the head in the focus

Hmm, does the focus not use the same thermo block?
Yes, well no.
Yes it's the Same sort of thing but the bosses are blank. Dash gets its info from the scp bus.
No they changed the design a little and made them cheaper. They distort and leak.
Earlier the better for quality and you can add sensors for the dash in the spare hole.

Brilliant. Thanks guys. For a moment I thought there has been a confusion with the cam sensor, but no there it us on the right of the picture and sure enough mine has one hidden away under the plenum. On my last project I had two sensors in the the thermostat housing - one for the ecu and one for the dash. Luckily the housing had enough holes. This one doesn't have any so I guess I'll also have to find another housing with at least one hole if I want a dash gauge as I don't think you can attach two things to the same sensor as it would distort the readings. I might have one lying around somewhere. ....
The solution is simple, use a Silvertop housing and throw the Blacktop housing away (actually put it on E-Bay, mine fetched £55. The Silvertop housing
allows you to fit ECU and gauge sensors that match your ECU and gauge.
The hole in the head where the Blacktop sensor fits is not drilled into a gallery so nothing to blank off.
