hi all looking to fit st170 to a type9 I have been running 2ltr zetec with type9 on a 1.8 zetec flywheel and clutch looking for a a bit more gusto so want to upgrade clutch I haven't had any probs so far but my zetec only puts out 150bhp

St170 motor will bolt straight up to the type 9 using the clutch and flywheel you have. The ST motor is just a zetec with some mods.

Beware though, there are conflicting opinions on using the vvt and not. Using it either requires an ecu capable of actually controlling the vvt properly(not just an on off switch) or running a separate vvt controller.

Other option is to do away with the vvt and fit a set of cat cams, though at £800 a set it's a bit heart breaking!

That is the way I'm thinking of going. Have a complete ST170 waiting. All I'm short of at the mo' is a 1.8 flywheel, short sump, engine mounts. Car failed MoT on brakes, a couple of bushes and number plate and there is a temptation to fix it and use it for a bit.

decided to stick with 1.8 fly and clutch see how it goes got it all fitted today even refilled rad just the vvt controller to wire In tomorrow then out for a drive
