T5 gearbox turret relocator?

I'm fitting a ford T5 cosworth gearbox into a locost chassis and where everything sits I feel the gear stick is way too far forwards.

I've seen for the type9 they do an linkage to relocate the gearstick further back, like this

but I can't finds anything for the T5, do they exist?

because that's what I already have, with the adapter bell housing to fit my c20xe.

How much are T5's selling for now?

I think I would look into selling it and using a more run of the mill kit car gearbox

There is no problem with the 'box. the car used to have a type9 in it and the prop, mounts and even the tunnel panel hole line up with where the type9 sat.




it's sitting where all locost's seem to sit. but just 'feels' too far forward

Got an American type short shifter on mine and it is canted back a few inches works very well . I did try the cheap ebay copy one first time round it was crap so if you do it bite the bullet and by the proper one.

I'm using a T5 from a TVR (along with the V8) which has the gear lever a little further forward then to cosworth box.

I spent a fair bit of time looking for one of these to no avail.

In the end I made my own.









We'll see how well it works once i get the car running.

this man speaks a lot of sense! unless you're running big power i'd be selling that T5 for upwards of £750 and spending £250 on a type 9!

really?? I will be hovering around the 200bhp mark. Being vauxhall powered obviously I will need the bellhousing adapter, what ever clutch/flywheel package is compared to the one I have for the T5.

the T5 is bog standard cosworth as it came out of the sierra. I still have the Ford bellhousing and clutch fork I think too. is there really such a market for it?

yes! i've known companies buying broke/untested boxes for £500 just to refurb and upgrade. cosworth tax is a killer!
