no smoke after rebuild

apart from a few drops of oil i put through the spark plug holes i was surprised to see hardly any smoke after rebuild.

took it out for a drive and did some full throttle in 2nd and 3 gear and over run it quite a few times.

no smoke. so if theres no smoke at beginning does that means a 1000 miles down the line there will be none.

but anyway there was zero smoke so that mean cylinders rings instantly bedded in?

No they wont be instantly bedded in,still run it in.
Wont always get smoke on a rebuilt engine,more common to get the amount you've seen,just the initial burn off on first start up.

right so what happened to me (hardly any smoke) is what supposed to happen and very common.

what about the guys who always get lots of smoke after a rebuild engine and whilst driving a few miles and people tell em , its normal and eventually the smoke will go after rings have bedded in.

was there something fundamentally wrong for them and does thier smoke eventually dissapear.

All depends if they run them in correctly,on the correct oil.

could be anything from just using loads and loads of oil as assembly lube to just giving the bores a quick hone when they really needed to get them bored out to the next size (although these would probably keep on smoking)

Its not worth worrying about the results some other random folks DIY engine builds have been - people make all kinds of mistakes / use parts that really should have been machined or replaced / follow the advise of their granddad's mates dog that rebuild his lawnmower engine once etc...
Just make sure you've done your own one right

If you keep driving the newly rebuilt car at full throttle oil is the least of your issues. Haha.
