NEW BUILDER CONTEMPLATING WHAT ENGINE TO USE. ANYONE EVER USED A RENAULT 5 TURBO, IF SO WHAT RWD GEARBOX ETC WILL FIT?????

Renault 5 turbo eh? First problem would be finding a half decent one that hasnt been well thrashed, IMHO probably br more heartache than its worth.
On the bright side, the engine would probably be a lot more reliable in a Locost, with much better cooling in the engine bay than the donor vehicle (the cause of many of its problems). Could be struggling with a RWD gearbox, Volvo's used the Renault 1400 motor in the 340, but the gearbox was in the back, and it had an aluminium propshaft. It would certainlt be something different......

Not sure about 5 turbo anymore...a bit small for my liking, just been checking out a few site's ( Ewan spence's was one of them), now going to look into maybe 4x4 with a chunk of essex metal under the bonnet. seem's quite a big job so any advice will be greatly appreciated.
