Hi all

Thinking about getting a 1.8 zetec. But have been told it is from a 1995 mondeo is this ok without a cat for the SVA or should i find a 1994 engine?

i belive before july 95 don't need a cat??
look at first 2 engine letters then check in burtons catalog as it has all the dates of engines

I heard but not sure if it is true but if you have a pre 94/95 donor and do an engine change with your later engine you still get an age related plate and no cat. Maybe someone can clarify/confirm.

You will need to prove the age of the engine regardless of the donor. You could change after the SVA.

I agree with that!
I have a 2.0 zetec engine 1998 and registered an engine change in the donor vehicle but when i spoke to the sva man he confirmed that you have to comply with the emmision laws that applied in the January of the year that your engine was built!
BTW hello, this is my first post on here

Looks like it might cost me a bit to get mine through the SVA then. I have a 2003 ST170 engine. I'm new to the forum also so Hi!

Welcome. If you are running injection then you can get some very neat cats which just form the front of a standard stye "7" exhaust and not too £££.
