Since I've been on this forum I don't think I have once heard the suggestion of using an Fiesta/Escort Turbo engine.
Am I right in thinking this is just a CVH with a turbo? If so a type9 should bolt right on and the standard injection is pretty simple. Would just
need a cut down inlet/sump from what I've seen.
Have I missed something?
I don't think you've missed anything. However, it dosen't give any more power than a 2 litre normaly aspirated Zetec in standard form,
and needs money spent to make it reliable with high boost levels.
Also under-bonnet heat managment is often a problem with 7's, adding a turbo just makes things more difficult.
i think the plumbing adds to the packaging problems for the engine, especially the height, the standard turbo to intake pipe goes straight across the
top of the rocker cover doesn't it?

Dunno what engine is in the Fiesta Turbo, but one tried to keep up with the Locost last night for a spell.
Seemed slow, no faster than the majority of traffic, only way I knew it was a turbo was the "Pppsssshhhhh" every time he changed gear

It is indeed the cvh. The first 200 RST fiestas went out with the wrong cams ( was my lecturer who used to work at fords fault) and they were somewhat slower than the rest. He he
two of my friends both had escort rs turbos both with 210@ the wheels with some serious mods. There fast but only when they are on boost which if you
hit round a slight bend in a kit car you'd be in the nearest field in no time.. :p
would be funny though... But NA is much better for kit cars...

One of my fathers mates has an rs turbo lump in a dax rush and it is unbelievably rapid, he says he hardly ever goes out of 3rd in it as it gets a bit twitchy. I remember him having to adapt almost everything to get it to fit though! Fit it with a nice small turbo or even a vnt and lag will be minimal. People only end up in fields when they don’t know how to drive a car properly!!!

It is a good engine to tune as all the parts are really cheep. but you'll be rebuilding it very oftern if you run high boosts.
the cvh in a turbo is a nightmare spares are so expensive hardened valves, uprated big ends that cost a fortune and pistons at 110quid each!!! plus they really are getting old, i used to have a series1 running about 250bhp and it used to torque steer like a bitch!!! i really would steer clear of em!
torque steer is only a problem in front wheel drive?? And there are ways of controlling boost delivery!
But i agree with what others have said, not very compact, especially escort turbo lump! steel fuel lines from metering unit to injectors have to be
kept same length. Fiesta turbo better cos its proper efi
