Hi Jambo,

If you check out the Module 3 section of my website http://www.westfieldbuild.net/

It gives some details on linking my 2000 black top to an MT75

I basically needed a clutch spacer, and a spigot bearing, i got the sandwhich plate from a sierra but i'm not sure that made much difference. The standard sump is a bit of a problem if you have a cable clutch (starter on the nearside)

You'll definitely need a Release Bearing and Spigot Bearing

I *Think* most of the modern zetec-engined cars use MTX gearboxes. Also think the MTX and MT gearboxes are similar enough that you can use the same clutch. Not 100% sure on this, though

Hi, The Release Bearing is what i was refering to (incorrectly) as the spacer, this just replaces the standard MT75 one.

You can (and i have) used the standard Zetec clutch.

hi kevip6
you say you used the standard zetec clutch but with mine the splines on the gearbox shaft are much bigger than the hole on the clutch plate of the zetec.
i have flywheel and clutches from both the 1.8 and 2.0l blacktops and the spline hole on them are the same.(dont fit)
any idea?

Try a 1.8 silvertop one?

jambo - 8/7/06 at 10:52 PM

funny enough 30 minitues later i bumped into a guy that gave me a 1.8l silvertop escort sump but is exactly the same as the 1.6l silvertop

sorry mate my head is screwed with this boswallocks
ps the sumps my other problem

kevip6 - 9/7/06 at 10:17 PM

Hi Jambo,

Thats odd, my engine came with the standard clutch on and it fit ok and i replaced it with a new clutch which also fit ok?

I'm not that technical so could there be a difference on the shaft on the MT75 depending on where it came from? I believe they were fitted to Seirra's and Transits? Mine was from a Sierra i believe?

Sorry i can't be that much help but mine mated together straight off?

what year and type of car did your blacktop come from?
thanks jamie

My blacktop was from a 2001 Focus, the engine was fitted in 2000 though (based on the letter from Ford Technical)

Don't know much about the car it came from though not sure if it was an auto or manual?

Hope this helps?
