If you can't get one you could make it. There are some pictures in my archive of how I did it.
Many others on here have also done it, each with there own variation on the theme.

David.
What's is the u shaped bracket in your Gear Link Bits Picture?

If you mean the one at the bottom with 2 nuts on it, that's what I made to stop it going into reverse without pressing the lever down. It locates
on the underside of the lever support bracket and bolts through 2 of the 3 gear lever holes. Reverse in my locost is in the same place as 1st on all
the other cars I drive.

Here is my go at a linkage extender, a little more complex if you don't have access to a lathe, I did this in about 7 hours work.

I based mine on Ben Copelands design (see link), simple, easy to make and it does work very well.

Does that give a slightly "wierd" gearchange feeling as the whole lever will move back and forward rather than pivoting?
Not really, the gear knob moves a similar distance forward, back and side to side as the standard gear lever.
In fact the forward/back movement is shorter than the standard as the original lever in the gearbox being about half its length means that the gear
knob only moves about 2" front to back.
