Where is the best place for a second temp sender to be tapped on a pinto?
Suggestions on thread size also appreciated.
Engine is currently in situ, I am hoping to be able to tap and use a strong magnet to remove swarf etc.... bad idea?
Cheers
Alex
WHY????
Is it for a feed to ECU??
Can you not use one in the top hose to feed the gauge.
Agreed - top hose is your best & easiest option
yes it is to feed an ecu, my concern with using the top hose is that the temperature is subject to the thermostat being open and that it's not a true reflection of engine temp especially on warmup.
Use the one in the block for the ECU and the top hose for the temp guage
nice and obvious practical solution
Thanks
As an alternative you can also replace the coolant drain plug located under the exhaust with the Temp. Sensor from a Zetec (not sure of the thread size).
Now thats cunning, I hadn't spotted a drainplug before, I'll have a look later and bet that it's blindingly obvious. anyone got a pic?
I v'e made a piece to go in the heater hose from manifold to heater to fit the coolant temp sensor for ecu . My theory is that the coolant in the hose will be at the same temperature as the inside of the block
