I mention before that I tried to buy and engine from a company in the Cambridge area and got ripped off, well heres an update to warn others of the
pitfalls of being trusting.
Having placed a request through a web site called "Findandengine.com" for an engine for a Fiat Stilo I was emailed buy a company called
"totalenginesuk" also trading as "Selectaengine".
Address
Total Engines Uk
16-18
MBJ Buisness Park
Kenny Hill
Bury St Edmunds
Suffolk
IP28 8DS
They gave me a quote of the correct engine indicating that they had it in stock and were ready to send.
the quote was for £650 +vat =£763.75.
They provided two phone numbers on the quote, both mobile.
I phoned and discussed the engine, the guy sounded genuine (Paul Emmet).
I offered to pay buy credit card , he said he had had problems with his machine and phone line and could i send a cheque.
I agreed and sent a cheque along with a confirmation email and letter confirming the deal.
They responded with an email saying the engine would be sent as soon as the cheque cleared.
Needles to say after almost 4 months and constant excuses I have recieved nothing, trading standards are now involved and it appears he has done this
to a few people, It appears i have little option but to claim through a Small Claims court which could take 6-9 months.
So Beware, Do not deal with this company, this individual floats from Norfolk to Suffolk and trades as different companys.
So dont buy an engine or spares from Paul Emmet or his partner Scott Mansfield, using the company name TotalEnginesuk or Selectaengine.
Dont use a cheque unless your sure and if possible use a credit card.

sorry to hear that john bet you wish you were coming to paintball tommorrow to take out some of your frustration. Hope you get refunded
quickly.
they are just up the road from me,i'll see what I can find out.
That is bad luck, best of luck getting your money back
D
If they have premises its time to get a Tranist and go round with a few mates. should be able to get your money back in engines, 4 or 5 good ones
should do it.
If there ever were any engines.
I really hate that people do these sorts of scams.
People talk about the transit van full of mates but I bet it never happens as most people are far too sensible and realise that the law is stacked
against them.
Even if the law does catch up with them I bet they won't have all the money they've scammed still in the bank somewhere.
But hey at least yours is in the UK, I lost out via eBay in the states a few years ago to the tune of £500-£600. I try not to think about it. It was
annoying as I used Paypal with a credit card but as I he kept in contact and kept delaying me (and I was busy with work) it went past 30 (or 45?) days
and there was nothing that Paypal or my credit card company could (or were willing) to do.

It must be the trade that encourages them. The local likely lads at CMS near us were done by Trading Standards earlier this year for selling "reconditioned" engines which had only been steam cleaned and painted before being shipped out.
