Clutch for Zetec & Type 9 gearbox
Bacon2002 - 27/5/07 at 09:30 PM

Hi,
I am about to buy a 2.0l Zetec (black top) and a type 9 gearbox, the engine does not have a clutch, it comes from a Mondeo with 42k miles.
No doubt a dumb question but should I get a replacement clutch for a Mondeo 2.0l?
(A clutch being a pressure plate a friction plate and I assume a trust bearing.)
Many thanks,
David

Or just call Dunnell and get a replacement lightened 1.8 flywheel modified to take standard Pinto Clutch

I had a xflow based Sylva Striker that was mated to a type 9 5 speed box. It used the clutch plate from a Sierra and the rest was Mk2 escort. I EVENTUALLY found someone who would sell me just the plate that I needed rather than having to buy a complete clutch kit for a Sierra and throw most of it away....

Or Retro Ford in Corby, as they may (or may not) be cheaper. Mine was circa £50 IIRC.
