My new shiny trigger wheel
GaryM - 4/10/07 at 07:27 PM

I've just received my new shiny laser cut 36-1 trigger wheel and i'm very pleased with it.

All I need now is to fabricate a bracket for my VR sensor and then I can have a go at getting my Megajolt working.

Trigger Wheel
Trigger Wheel

It's made from 5mm steel and is drilled to take a 7/16th bolt so I can bolt it onto the front of my xflow crankshaft pulley (with a spacer).

I ordered it from Martin Townsend who lists on eBay under teddy-edward1962.
It cost £10 inc P&P and only took a couple of days from order to delivery!

I have no association with Martin but would thoroughly recommend him and his work.

Cheers
Gary

That looks good.

I made my own for my Zetec from a 1.8 CVH trigger wheel, welded onto the Zetec pulley.

The bracket for holding the pick up was a bit of a faff to make.

Yet to see if it works.

Why did you need a trigger wheel for a zetec? most people use the one on the flywheel with the original vr sensor.

Hmmm I recognise the workmanship as it looks like the timing wheel bundled with my ECU kit.

<<<< Could be the same Martin who machined up the timing bracket in my avatar. Spent a couple of hours in the workshop with him getting it just right

Hi Paul

Cos it cost less!

Seriously, I don't have a particularly good reason, other than I didn't get a flywheel with the Zetec I bought. I wasn't too bothered as I got a 1.8 Focus engine with low miles for £60.

After checking around I realised the CVH flywheel would fit and is about 2.5Kg lighter than the 1.8 Zetec flywheel.

So no need to buy a flywheel / clutch as all the CVH bits can be used.

Fitting the trigger wheel from the CVH was pretty much cost free.
