Type 9 gearbox mount
Stoo - 19/10/07 at 10:21 AM

Hi all,

I'm in the process of changing my engine and box and want to take the oppurtunity to swap my"floppy as a floppy thing" gearbox mount for something a bit more substantial.

Does anyone know where to get uprated units, or have any opinion of them or should I just get a new one where the rubber part isn't the consistency of snot?

Westfield do a nice stiff one

I'll second the Westfield reccomendation.
Much stiffer, and suprisingly cheap...

Just out of interest what engine are you removing?

I got a westfield one very stiff, but totaly different style of mount, I think its just the old 4 speed type (escort / cortina?)

Caterham do the same mounting I think you will find it a bit cheaper than the westfield one.

I think I only paid ~£12 for my westfield one a year ago - but they did keep running out of stock

I have a lightly used westfield mount and mounting bracket you can have for a few beer tokens if you like

I just changed my gearbox mount today, it is a sierra one and the new one was much stiffer than the old one .It seems to be well up to the job although i do have almost solid engine mounts.
I was going to use a capri one but didnt know if the mounting centres were the same
