What engine for 140+ BHP
donut - 2/1/08 at 05:40 PM

What would be a good 4 pot CEC engine for a 7 / fury type that will be good for 140-160 bhp without having to strip and modify the thing? Budget about a grand ish i guess

eg, 2litre zetec with throttle boddies etc....?

toyota 4age 16v or 20v. thats my thoughts,

as you say a 2.0 Zetec should be good for 165

easy easy easy

worX - 2/1/08 at 05:46 PM

I still think the VX engine deserves a look in to any CEC engined queries...

Duratec (Seeing as I'm not allowed to suggest the more obvious answer )

nissan 200sx engine complete with turbo wooooosh

mookaloid - 2/1/08 at 06:11 PM

ST170 - Now why was it called that?

blakep82 - 2/1/08 at 06:11 PM

i seem to be quite keen on vauxhall engines these days...

c20xe
x20xev
c20let...

all good for 140bhp as standard, x20xev's actually about 137bhp as standard, but a tiny bit of work can push it over that, c20let is the turbo, and the c20xe is the redtop 150bhp standard

You mean one of those Westfield Megablade or Megabusa lumps??

zilspeed - 2/1/08 at 07:41 PM

Zetec every time.

There are loads of them out there.
The power is there.
They're cheap.

Anything else is going to be more hassle.

Johnmor - 2/1/08 at 07:49 PM

Old 4 pot , on a budget.

Fiat , Lancia 2.0l 8 V
Designed for rearwheel drive, simple and basic design.

Light years ahead of Ford Pinto,
gearbox from fiat 131,132

Bolt on Side daft 45s and get 150 BHP easy!!!

zilspeed - 2/1/08 at 07:52 PM

There was a Guy Croft on ebay recently - complete with a Sylva.

Don't think it broke 500 quid

thomas4age - 3/1/08 at 04:58 AM

4age 20v, Relaiable.....

I tought being light and revvy was also an issue in these cars, complete stock exept for the ECU does 163hp @7800rpm, and 131nm from 2300rpm best inbetween BEC and CEC if you ask me.
it is 100+hp per liter NA in stock form, how many of the afformentioned engines make that?

volvo engines are also very nice, heavy though in 5cyl configuration. oh and if it was a mojo or such a good old V-tec

Zetec 1.8 or 2.0 or K16 1.6 or Toyota 4age

The K16 1.6 just puts out 112 hp in standard form but as with the Zetec just fitting throttle bodies will give you the extra power.
