will try mr patel down the road for a price for service items or is anyone able to sell ford service items at locost rates.

anyone have a manual in pdf format so i can look at doing the cambelt myself, and what else needs changing apart from the oil.

Make sure that the fuel filter is not the one shown because its not right for the 1800 and 2ltr petrol, they're the canister type by the fuel tank!!
I'm in the trade so get all my bits cheap any way original or not , i used a powergrip kit from our motor factors £70+vat from what i can remember everything you need idler tensioner and belt. Belts are easy enough to change tho!

Motaquip are a brand used by many independent garages and purport to supply to some OEMs so the stuff should be fine.

Motaquip were originally the service parts brand name of Chrysler UK--- bit like Unipart wasa to BL -- lord knows who owns the brand in the UK now.

I use the local motor parts place, if there are any problems you can take it back and I find that online prices aren't that much cheaper

My father inlaws tensioner failed at 97k smashing 16 valves. Best to do it asap

There is a bar that fits across the back of the cams. IIRC its about 6mm thick and can only slot in when the engine is at TDC.
