There's a big price difference between the 1.8 and the 2.0, I picked up a 1.8 on ebay for only £50 along with a few other bits[1].
As they're heavy, people don't want to travel far, some seem to have no interest at all. I "won" one a couple of weeks ago for
99p, the seller didn't go through with it, but it shows how plentiful/cheap they can be. I'd check ebay, especially if you're not in a
rush
2.0 engines seem to always be in demand, I've not blagged a cheap one yet...
I forgot to add, if you fit a pair of 2.0 camshafts in the 1.8, there's not that much difference between them, power-wise.
[1] A spare head (with inlet etc.), 2 EDIS units, CVH sump, Escort water pump (new) and a DOHC starter. Bargain-tastic.

My local scrappy charges £200 for a phase 1 2L zetec. It comes with everything attached and is a bargain
I paid £230 for a nice 1.8 and I've just parted with £300 for a Rover Vitesse turbo nutter engine so watch out!!
Bet my neighbours loved me, Had mine running for an hour this morning
