No t locost but your advice please.
a guy in the office put 2 litres on petrol in his diesel passat, He realised and then put 49 litres of deisel in. Now ill effects at the moment on the
drive in to work this morning.
Is this going to cause a problem or will he be OK
Cheers Chris
Should be ok, This is another one that my girlfriend has managed to do!
after getting new 306HDI,
Day one, Speed camera flashed at her,
Day two ran out of Diesel
Day three put petrol in the tank
Needless to say i was non to happy
Anyway it ran fine when she filled it full with diesel
Chris,
I did this once in similar quantities in a diesel Pug 205. The car never seemed to suffer any ill effects from it, but I did keep the tank topped up
for a while. At the time a few people told me that petrol floats on diesel, whether this is true or not I don't know.
I shouldn't worry too much about it!
Cheers
Nick
A small amount like 2 litres shouldnt do any harm especially if he's filled up with Diesel afterwards to dilute it.
Cheers,
Bob
When I worked in a petrol station, during winter I would often see people mixing a couple of litres of petrol with their diesel. Apparently it
stopped it turning to gloop in really cold weather.
I don't think this is as applicable to modern diesel fuels.
I used to work for an engineering company that rebuilt lots of engines . The Boss always used to top up his diesel vechiles with a couple of litres
of petrol during the winter and never had any problems with engines or diesel blockages.

Wife once put put 5galls yes galls ( thats about 24 litres for you metric types) of petrol into the quarter full ( bout 3galls) tank of her Discovery.....after a mile or two it started to get a bit lumpy and it was driven like this for a day or two before the penny dropped...Garage just told us to fill up with diesel and let the petrol work its way though which we duly did.......no lasting effects.......Brother once did the same thing to an Izuzu Trooper...same treatment worked for that too..

I put £6 worth of diesel in my locost
dont know what it went like as I drained the tank beside the garage and then filled up with petrol again
It did smoke well on the way home !!!!!
One of my old housemates filled (yes, all the way) his 306 DTurbo up with petrol. It got the mile or so from the garage to the house and then died.
We just drained the tank, filled it up with diesel and after a lot of cranking it fired up. Was a bit lumpy to start with but fine by the second fill
of diesel.
