Zetec type 9 final list
focijohn - 30/9/08 at 07:21 PM

Please stick with me here but could anyone using this set up tell me what they have as i am getting mixed things from different sources.

The list of things i have ATM is as follows:
2.0 zetec and type 9
Metal gasket from both zetec and sierra
Starters from a pinto, zetec, 2.0 DOHC and CVH 1600 (xr2) but the CVH seems to be favorite or Lucas LRS 543 3 1/2" diameter?
Clutch from the zetec

To buy:
Spigot Bearing for part # FINIS 1554973
1800 water pump QH QCP2889
Release bearing QH CCT133 ( capri as it's deeper).
1800 Sump
1.8 sierra dust plate

But what i have heard is that people are using the 2.0 clutch others the 2.0 pressure plate and CVH clutch plate and all sorts of different arrangements.
So as i said ^^^^ what are you guys using successfully?

Thanks in advance

John

I used an 1800 escort clutch cover and flywheel and a plate from an early 1800 Mondeo with a 1 inch 23 spline centre, the later ones had smaller centres.I used the release bearing from a Sierra that was fitted to the box when i got it.
If uprating then a 2 litre pinto clutch on a redrilled flywheel is capable of more power handling.

Earrlier today, Mark Fisher recommended the following lutch arrangement for an 1800 flywheel ...

1993-1996 18oo Mondeo clutch cover
Sierra (2000 OHC)clutch plate
Sierra ( 1.6 1982-87)release bearing Quinton Hazel part number QH133.

Starter - I am successfully using one from a 1.8 CVH Sierra

The clutch depends upon the gearbox it was used for.

ie Bc or Mtx75

You will want a 1.8/1.6 flywheel to go into a type 9.

Clutch you will want is with a 220mm dia with a 1" 23 spline center friction plate. Something like QH Part Number - QKT1614AF.

You will want the longer thrust bearing from a 4 spd sierra / capri box
somthing like Quinton Hazell part CCT133

You then need a spigot bearing from a sierra FINIS code of 1663863.

The dust cover between the engine and box can be made from a sheet of 16swg sheet mild steel or you can add a bit to the standard one found on the t9.

The Dohc starter is usually the thiner one and needs less metal taking of the escort/fiesta sump.

You will also need the waterpump pulley from an escort ect to go with your new pump.

I have the 2l flywheel in my Mt75 with the mondeo 240mm clutch. I was told it didnt fit the t9 bell housing but never bothered checking.

I just used the standard 2l flywheel and clutch. Seems to work well.

(I presume that you are using a silvertop, as I believe the 1.8l pump will be no good on the blacktop.)

I used the cvh starter (LRS707, from memory)

Copied from a post of mine in 2006:

Some QH part numbers for you.

Friction plate C1189AF
Cover plate Q10066

The above are in QH kit QKT690AF which is for an early Mondeo.
You'll also need the CCT133 release bearing.

These part numbers were correct about 6 months ago when I rebuilt a Westfield with a Zetec & Type 9.

Heres mine....

1.8 flywheel with 1.8 zetec clutch, Capri release bearing, 1.8 escort dust cover, DOHC starter, all fit together no problem, only thing I had mod was the dust cover as below Rescued attachment Starter point.JPG

jesus thanks guys, ill send some of those numbers off to the motor factors they're going to love me!

Yes i am using a silvertop from a P reg!

So the spigot bearing # from ford is FINIS 1663863 not 1554973

madteg - 30/9/08 at 08:05 PM

I used a 1600 flywheel and redrilled it to take a 2.0l clutch as the fwd clitch could not take the power.

93 on to 96 mondeo 1800 clutch kit(220mm dia)bolted to an 1800 flywheel release bearing cct133 from QH and a CVH RWD starter lucas LRS707.

This set up works for me

big_wasa - 30/9/08 at 08:47 PM

the spigot number was cut and pasted from another thread.

Ford told me any sierra bearing will do.

Danozeman - 30/9/08 at 09:20 PM

I have a 1.8 flywheel with early mondeo 1.8 clutch plate and cover, cct133 release bearing, is it capri spigot? sierra cvh starter and no plte. works fine for me on type 9
